Screaming people ran as the eerie image of an eighty foot monster girl in a nightgown allowed her presence to be shown. The scared throng of vacationers could only see her black silhouette which had morphed into the palm trees for a creepy effect.
“Where am I? She cried out – “What has happened to my bedroom?”
The crowd ran faster hearing her oddly child-like voice bellowing from the trees. Shadowy figures floated after the people yelling “Go quickly if you want to live!”
“MOMMY!” she screamed.
“No more scary movies for you young lady!” Mommy said soothing her daughter back to sleep.
I’m scared. ==> Nice direction on this story. The ending surprised me.
Dear Nan,
That was one frightening dream. I agree with her mom. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks Rochelle – nothing compared to yours though! You’re awesome!
So well written , Nan. Great story !
Hey, Neighbor Nan! Good to see you!
Good story, very relatable. I have been sleeping with the Adventures of Superman TV series in my head lately.
Five out of five howyadoin’s. 😉
Thanks William! Five out of five howyadoin’s is AWESOME feedback! Very kind of you! Nan
😉
Nice twist on this one.
Scary indeed. “Monsters, Inc.” revisited. Must be the toys looking up at the human in terror. 🙂
That shadow does look like a monster girl! Well done.
Hi Alicia, I thought it did – that was my very first impression when I looked at the prompt. Thank you so much for reading my story and commenting so kindly! Nan
Must have been Gulliver’s twin sister. Thank goodness it was only a dream. It would take a lot of groceries to feed a girl that size, and tough find her shoes too.
Did you say SHOES? She’d be out of luck for sure! Have a great week Russell, tell your better half hi for us! Nan
You presented the atmosphere so well, kind of reminded me of the lastest movie, Colossal.
A good take and well told. I liked the way you took me from imagining a monster to seeing a harmless, frightened little girl.
Nicely written, Claire.
Nice.The picture definitely looks nightmarish
I liked this, Nan. It was very credible and moving. Well written.

Watching Dr Who used to do that to me as a kid 🙂
Dr. Who freaked me out once when I was babysitting three kids named (honestly) David, Denver and Dudley. That’s when we used to get paid 50 cents an hour – didn’t make much money for those kids. What IS so funny, I told my mother I didn’t want to have boys – and then we had 4 (and we feel so fortunate). They have been a blast! Wow – great kids (even if I say so myself)! Creepy! Thanks, Nan
I had to look at the photo again and there was your girl! I missed it when I first say it. Well done! :o)
Nicely done.
The shadow was pointed out to me as looking like a woman with an arm towards the sky! So glad you went with that!
Sound advice Mommy!
My story is called ‘Someone’
Loved that sweet ending… so cute.
Thank you so very much Bjorn! I always enjoy your stories! Thanks, Nan
Nicely done, I remember having nightmares as a child.
Well done. What you watch and read does spin out some elaborate dreams at times.
I think I like the daughter’s taste in movies. Fun story!
I babysat once for three boys while watching this and it WAS interesting and fun! Thanks, Nan
Excellent 🙂
As I started reading, I looked back at the picture and could see a little girl in a gown on the right side. Great job!.
Great title to set up the following story. I think mom is right on this one. 🙂
Thank you Sarah Ann! That is the very first impression I had after looking at the prompt. Very kind of you! Nan
Oh gosh, no. How many times, as mothers, have we done this!?
Hi Dawn – As for us, we have done this many times and we don’t let our grandchildren watch creepy movies at all! Have a great week, Nan.
OHHH!! What a scary dream and the aftereffects of watching horror movies. as a child i was fascinated by horror films but was scared to sleep lest the demons terrorized me .

I love how you took the shadow (which I hadn’t noticed was there!) and wove your story from it.
I thought of the 1958 film “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.” 😀
Cute story, Nan. Her mother is right about the scary movies. Good writing. 🙂 — Suzanne
Thank you so very much Suzanne! I’m so unsure of my writing and I really appreciate your comments! Nan
