Marital Bliss

Marital Bliss

By, Nan Claire Falkner

Herbs new wife Bertha wasn’t very romantic – or maternal. She ate the last batch of their babies. Sometimes he saw an evil look in her eyes while looking at him. He stayed with her though.

Coming home from the BUGALOO Holiday party last night, he saw a dead beetle. His wife had a sweet tooth for beetles so this would make a great Christmas present for her. Hopefully she would share it with their babies.

So, he wrapped.

Christmas morn Bertha smiled at him and motioned to the new kitchen floor.

Herb moved toward the fly paper – then stopped.

    • Dear Draliman, You are absolutely right. She has not maternal instinct so Herb (if he gets out of his current predicament should be careful spouse hunting next time. Have a good week! Nan 🙂

    • Dear Bjorn, Thanks for stopping by. I think Bertha and Herb are not meant for each other. She is all about herself. I bet Herb could raise the kids better by themselves – at least he isn’t cannibalistic. Have a wonderful week! Nan 🙂

    • Sandra, Thank you so very much. Bertha is an acquaintance of mine but she does have shifty eyes. I don’t even like to be in a room alone with her. Oh well, As long as he is happy – at least I think he is – they will be happy! Merry Christmas somewhere in Europe? You are a fun gal. Nan 🙂

  1. Dear Alicia, You know what, his mother wants grandchildren too – I don’t know about him siring any itsy bitsy spiders – but time will tell. Merry Christmas Alicia! Nan 🙂

    • Dear Russell, Sugar Babies, I love those – we used to put those in our desks at school and snack on them during the day. Yummy – I guess that would bring the bugs to our classrooms. Maybe that’s why there were exterminators parked outside. Merry Christmas to you and Connie and Greta and all!

    • Dear Suzanne, Once again (I’m embarrassed to say) I didn’t answer all the comments that people had written on my story. I apologize and I promise to do better – Hopefully. Thanks!

      • Nan, please don’t worry about it. I’m just coming out of a long illness. There’s whole lot I missed because I didn’t have the energy. Stuff happens. Thank you for answering even though it is years late. Phyllis
